About Us

Gloria Logan established Park Players in 1970. The Park didn't have a theatre program established yet so Gloria Logan, a new drama teacher at Salem High School and graduate of Eastern Michigan University, started Park Players with $1000.00 of her own money. The program flourished and made quite a name for itself thanks to Gloria's vision, talents, and time. Gloria Logan was director of Park Players until she retired from Salem High School in 2000. For the next two seasons, Geoff Kopp, graduate of Western Michigan University, directed Park Players. In the fall of 2002, Kristen Quesada, graduate of Eastern Michigan University, assumed the role of director of Park Players. Quesada is currently a teacher at Salem High School and director of Park Players. Paul Bird is current technical director of Park Players and has been since 1996.

Park Players is open to all P-CEP students who have an interest in theatre. Whether students attend Salem, Canton, or Plymouth, all are welcome. Regardless of grade or level of experience, all P-CEP students are welcome and encouraged to be a part of this exciting theatrical experience and educational opportunity. For many current Park Players and Park Players alumni, this high school experience has been a life-changing one. For some, it's a fun way to get involved in extra-curricular activities. For others, it's a place of comfort and acceptance. Still for some, it is the beginning of a life-long dream and career in the entertainment industry.

How Can Students Get Involved?

Al l P-CEP students are welcome to participate in Park Players, regardless of age, grade, or experience.]]>

All P-CEP students may audition for the main-stage productions. Casting is non-biased in regards to age and experience. Each part is given to the person who best fits the given role for each show. Many students audition for several shows before landing a role, while others get a part at their first audition! The key is to keep trying! If cast, there are strict requirements in regards to attending rehearsals. Rehearsals are usually after school Monday through Thursday until about 5:30p.m. Depending on the size of your role, you may not need to be at rehearsal every day.

All P-CEP students are welcome to come to tech calls. No audition or experience is necessary to become part of the technical crew for a show. The great thing about tech is there are no requirements as to when and how often you attend. Tech is flexible and fun. Students who are interested in tech are interested in learning about all aspects of how a show is put together. Tech calls are generally Monday through Thursday from 5:30p.m. until about 9:00p.m. Fridays after school, and some Saturdays. During these calls, students build and paint sets. Working on costuming, lights, and sound are also a part of tech calls. Tech is a great way to get involved with Park Players.

In addition to tech calls, students are responsible for all other aspects of the production. Other ways students can help include working with crew heads on publicity, ticket sales, programs, make-up and hair, and costumes.

How Do I Sign Up For Tech?

You are NOT required to “sign up” for tech. If you want to help build and paint sets, you just show up to the Logan Auditorium during tech calls. A tech calendar will be posted on the doors of the upper auditorium the end of January for the spring musical and the middle of September for the fall play. Any day that says “General Tech” you are welcome to attend.

If you are interested in working with a crew such as costumes, publicity, or sales, Email Mrs. Quesada quesadk@pccs.k12.mi.us your name, phone number, grade, and which crews you are interested in helping with. The appropriate crew head will contact you as to when and where you can help.
